Healthy Office Policy
Helping us maintain a healthy environment protects our patients, our doctor and staff, and the families who go home with us at the end of the day.
Last Updated: October 2026If You’re Sick, Please Stay Home.
If you are actively ill, have symptoms that may be contagious, have had a fever within the previous 48 hours, or have a household member who is currently experiencing symptoms of a potentially contagious illness, please do not come into the office. We will be happy to reschedule your appointment.
Why We Have This Policy
Adjustments Chiropractic & Wellness is a wellness-focused healthcare office. People visiting our office may include older adults, individuals with compromised immune systems, people undergoing treatment for serious health conditions, and others for whom an infectious illness may present a greater concern.
Chiropractic treatment also requires close physical contact between the doctor and patient. An illness brought into the office can therefore affect more than the person who is sick.
Our Healthy Office Policy is designed to protect our patients, our doctor and staff, and their families. We appreciate your help in maintaining that environment.
When You Should Reschedule
Please reschedule your appointment if you are actively sick or experiencing new or worsening symptoms that could reasonably represent a contagious illness.
Examples include, but are not limited to:
- Fever or chills
- New or worsening cough
- Sore throat
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Significant congestion or runny nose
- Unexplained body aches
- Symptoms of a respiratory infection
- Known contagious illness
- Other symptoms suggesting an active infection
If you’re uncertain whether you should come in, please contact the office before your appointment. When in doubt, we would much rather reschedule.
Fever & Medication
Patients who have experienced a fever should not return to the office until they have been fever-free for at least 48 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication.
Starting an antibiotic, antiviral, cold medication, fever reducer, or other medication does not automatically make someone eligible to return to the office.
Medications may reduce or temporarily suppress symptoms without changing the requirements of this Healthy Office Policy.
Illness in Your Household
Please also reschedule if someone in your household is currently experiencing symptoms of a potentially contagious illness, particularly fever, vomiting, diarrhea, significant respiratory symptoms, or a known contagious infection.
Household exposure can occur before another person develops symptoms. Taking this additional precaution helps us reduce unnecessary exposure within the office.
Masks Do Not Replace Rescheduling
We recognize that masks may be used as an additional precaution in some circumstances. However, wearing a mask does not override this office’s illness policy.
A patient who is actively ill or otherwise meets the criteria for rescheduling should remain home rather than attend the appointment while wearing a mask.
Recent Vaccination — 14-Day Policy
As part of our Healthy Office Policy, Adjustments Chiropractic & Wellness does not provide in-office treatment to patients who have received a vaccination within the previous 14 days.
This policy applies regardless of the type of vaccine received. Patients who arrive for an appointment and disclose that they received a vaccination within the preceding 14 days will not be treated that day and will be asked to reschedule.
This is an office-specific scheduling and treatment policy of Adjustments Chiropractic & Wellness. It should not be interpreted as a statement that a recently vaccinated individual is contagious, nor is this policy intended as medical advice or as a recommendation for or against vaccination.
If fever or symptoms of illness are present after the 14-day period has ended, the illness provisions of this Healthy Office Policy continue to apply.
There Is No Penalty for Staying Home When You’re Sick.
We never want an appointment policy to encourage someone who is sick to come into the office. If you need to reschedule because you are ill, because of potentially contagious illness in your household, or to comply with our 14-day vaccination policy, there is no cancellation or rescheduling penalty.
If You Arrive While Actively Ill
If a patient arrives with signs or symptoms of active illness, the doctor may decline to provide treatment and ask the patient to return home and reschedule.
Because we cannot determine at the front desk whether every symptom is or is not contagious, the office reserves the right to postpone an in-person visit when the doctor reasonably believes proceeding could create an unnecessary risk of infectious exposure.
A patient’s belief that an illness is no longer contagious, the use of medication, or the willingness to wear a mask does not require the doctor to proceed with an appointment when the Healthy Office Policy has not been satisfied.
When in Doubt, Give Us a Call
This policy isn’t intended to make scheduling difficult. Quite the opposite—we want you to feel comfortable rescheduling when you aren’t well.
If you are unsure whether your circumstances fall within this policy, contact us before coming to the office. We can help determine an appropriate time to reschedule your appointment.
Thank you for helping us maintain a healthier environment for everyone who visits our office.
